Got A Day in the Life of Ancient Rome, a book I've been longing for ever since that random Latin class in high school. Most of the class was devoted to Latin vocab and such, but at the end the teacher would read from the book and show clips of documentaries and it that was my favorite part because I am a such a history fangirl, really, sometimes it makes me think that I'm in the wrong major and the wrong school and I need to pack up and elope to a school with a great history department and make mad passionate love to a female archeology student and write my thesis on the Globe Theater end up working at a Ren Faire for the rest of my life.

Anyhoodle, this book is like the best thing ever, it's one of my favorite things, right up there with bagels and cats and Oancitizen and Kill Bill and Shakespeare and Neil Gaiman's voice. I'm serious! I picked it up from the mailroom after class and promptly went to sit and eat my dinner and read and then I'd gotten through my epic salad (delicious, with tomatoes, another one of my favorite things: tomatoes) and I was eighty pages in and hadn't done any homework at all and I wanted to cry happy historian tears because it was even better than I remembered!

The only thing that could make it better? If it were an audiobook READ BY NEIL GAIMAN! Then I would do nothing but languish in bed and listen to him read to me about how they did laundry in Ancient Rome and how they built the streets and stuff. Actually, it's probably a good thing it's not an audiobook. I might die of happiness.

Should have been watching Doctor Who and recapping. Instead I'm merrily skipping through the Sherlock Kink Meme archives, organized the piles and boxes of books in my room (there was much dust), trying to figure out which books I'll be taking to college with me (I can't take twelve, there are more books already there in my dorm!) and debating whether to get Neverwhere on audio or Odd and the Frost Giants on audio or both, because both are read by Neil Gaiman and I have been known to get foolish with my money when his voice involved. He's like a siren. A creepy, British siren ...
I mean, it's ok, I got an iTunes giftcard for Christmas, I could use it on an an audiobook or two ... I should really make it last a couple months and buy a song here or a song there, but his voice is so soothing ... *gets glassy-eyed*

Gah, so many books! Books overcrowding the shelves, books piled on top of the shelves, books in my room, books in the sewing room, books in the living room, books back in my dorm room, books everywhere! Separated them into several piles. Now there's the books I want kept readily available at home because I want to take them to college and then bring them back at breaks and bring others to my dorm, the books that I are good/fun but I can stand to have stored away, and books that are informative but I can stand to have stored away, and the many books I haven't read yet but intend to because they looked interesting once upon a time. Oh, and five+ shelves of "kid's books" that are nostalgic and I can't bear to be parted from. Because I am a pack rat.

The tv series Neverwhere has been recommended to me on Netflix because of my "interest in Kinky Boots, Labyrinth, and Firefly: the Complete Series."
Sometimes, I realize that I'm a pretty cool person.

(Don't worry, I've got the book. I'm reading it now. And I know that the show isn't all that great. Still want to check it out.)
