The Host (+ Reaper)
Jun. 22nd, 2008 12:47 amOk, The Host? Officially one of my all-time favorite books. Even if you're one of the people who doesn't like Stephanie Meyer, you should read this book, because it is so radically different from her Twilight/New Moon/Eclipse books that you wouldn't notice.
The Host sounds like a crappy body-snatchers type thing, aliens taking over Earth, and all that, and, in part, it kinda is. It's told from the POV of a 'soul' who is given the body of a young human woman ... but the woman whose body it originally was is fighting back.
The Host isn't even really about aliens. It's about humans and humanity. The concept of bringing in an opposing force to talk about the other force is handled incredibly well in this book, as is the 'bizarre' love square involving THREE bodies and four minds.
Yeah, I know, it sounds godawful and really weird, but it sucked me in, made me peek ahead a few times in terror, and when it was done, I CRIED.
Really, please read this book. There's no slash (sadly) but it's a fantastic book that's written very well with a very intriguing concept and ... yeah, I'm explaining it awfully, so just go out and read it please.
*kerslump* I is tired. I need to go to bed, seeing as it's now ... HOLY RASSILON'S EARMUFFS! ONE in the MORNING?!
(I need to rest up, Doctor Who tomorrow ... today ... yesterday for you lucky British peoples ...)
