In these past harried weeks I managed to make a few macros. I am VERY exhausted after striking the set today, but I decided to clean up my desktop a bit.

(This imaged was ganked from here: http://davidtennant.albumpost.com/album833/aat)

(Sorry, this image isn't the best, but it's ridiculous difficult to track down an image like this.)

Here be the macros of epic fail. Basically stolen ideas, but worth a shot. *shrugs*

Some rather unexpected things happened towards the end of Season 4 of Doctor Who:

I giggled at these. Starting out with a companion who's already dead would get a lot of the inevitable angst out of the way up front. Now there needs to be fanfic with Donna and Hiro, traveling through time and space and throwing up their arms in exultation. It would be adorable. I thought Firefly too with that marketplace. Whoa! The fortuneteller and Chantho are the same actress? Crazy! Complete agreement that Jack should have been naked.

Huzzah for giggling!

Starting out with a companion who's already dead would get a lot of the inevitable angst out of the way up front.
My thoughts exactly! ARE YOU LISTENING, MR. MOFFAT?! (If not Yorick, a GHOST for Companion '09 would be fantastic ...)

Now there needs to be fanfic with Donna and Hiro, traveling through time and space and throwing up their arms in exultation. It would be adorable.
I KNOW! Someone NEEDS to write it! (Not me, though, I haven't the time ...)

I thought Firefly too with that marketplace.
For a few seconds I thought that I'd clicked on the wrong link and was watching Firefly marthaon instead of Doctor Who.

The fortuneteller and Chantho are the same actress? Crazy!
Yes, they are! I though she sounded familiar, but didn't recognize her out of her aqua make-up.

Complete agreement that Jack should have been naked.
I'm glad the Coat survived ... but it makes no damn sense.

Yay FIREFLY! JOSS!!!! *flail*

Also, I appreciate Yorick as companion. Do want. Need to go icon now. Unless you will, since I'm supposed to be doing something.

Also! Jack. Yes. Should have been naked and/or cremated. The former is preferable, the latter more honest, and truly, the latter would coincide with the former in this case.

And Minuet in Hell! I listened to that one. It caused me to conclude that Eight exists for crises of identity.

(Yeah, I know, fail for me needing to use two posts because I don't think before hitting submit. Yeah.)

*flails about Joss as well*

I cannot make icons. You go right ahead (just credit me please, and post me a linky!)

Yeah, Jack not being at LEAST naked was just ridiculous. Of course, the Coat survived, so I'm inclined to drop the matter after a while ...

And Minuet in Hell! I listened to that one. It caused me to conclude that Eight exists for crises of identity.
Yeah, he does ... what drives me crazy is that Gideon went all DoctorDonna ... and it wore off and he was fine and dandy. *shakes head*

Well, considering that Jack had been in that chamber with the radiation all leaking in (in Utopia), I guess it's totally within the realm of possibility for him to survive an incinerator in his Magic Coat. Maybe...

Or we could just say "Any similarities between reality and Dr. Who science are purely coincidental."

LOL.. yay Yorick! And I totally thought about that Firefly crossover when I saw that episode. Glad to know I'm not the only one :D

Huzzah for Yorick! (He really SHOULD be Companion '09 ... him or Bob ... wait, do you know who Bob is?)

For a second I though I was WATCHING Firefly, not Doctor Who.

No, Bob, the ghost-in-the-skull on 'The Dresden Files' ...

Ghost.. in the.. skull?

*backs away slowly*

You watch some pretty weird tv, kid.

*runs and tackles you in a hug*

And I love you for it!! But no, I've never heard of that Bob.

Hee hee hee, thanks! *hugs you back*

Well, 'The Dresden Files' the show was canceled (stupid Sci-Fi channel!) but it was based on a book series about a warlock/detective named Harry Dresden ... look it up, I need to read them too!

Drat, you beat me to that one. Well, he's not working since his show was cancelled. Terrance Mann is making movies, I mean the skull.

*sigh* I am so mad. I was all geared up to watch the episodes, and then I heard it got canceled. *glowers at the world in general*
I should really read the books, shouldn't I?

Is Bob a skull in TV!verse? I thought he was a person-shaped ghost. But I haven't seen the show (due to the lack of Marcone, whose awesome is rivaled only by that of Butters and perhaps Thomas when Thomas isn't being whiny), so I don't know.

Thanks for the clarification! I'll probably never watch the show. I'm still trying to get through the books. They are made of awesome but also make me want to stab things (Jim Butcher's women are horrible, and Harry's attitude toward said women is possibly worse), but Marcone, Butters, and Thomas are SO MUCH LOVE. Also Harry, when in combination with any of these characters. (I also possibly, maybe, sort of ship Thomas/Butters and spent most of Dead Beat plotting fic for them in my head and too much time since actually writing fic.)

POLKA WILL NEVER DIE! ♥ I had an icon of that, too, somewhere . . . but I can't recall where I saved it. Oh, well. *sticks to Marcone icon*

The thing about Dresdenverse women is that, even when they're kicking ass, they are sexualized, victimized, and patronized while the men are not. Even while I love and respect some of the women, including Murphy, Charity, and Susan, they seem to be stuck (due to Butcher's writing and Harry's POV) in roles as sexual objects and victims. Again and again, our heroic women are reduced to descriptions of how much they turn Harry on, or to how they are used as leverage against him (or the Man in their life, like Michael), because women are weaknesses. And even as those female characters grow to be more dynamic on paper, Harry's attitude (which is treated as a joke) emphasizes, once again, emphasizes how they are weak, feminine, and sexy. To the point where those become their defining traits, and even Murphy being strong and capable is really only emphasized by Butcher telling us she's strong and capable, rather than most of her actions, or the details used to give life to her character.

Meanwhile, the "evilness" of almost all evil women is emphasized repeatedly by their sexuality. There are so many descriptions of women's nipples hardening in response to their sinister actions that it almost amazes me: at least one in every book, often more. Like most women in The Dresden Verse, women of morally questionable fiber are described as very beautiful and sexy, but they -- unlike "good" women -- use that beauty and sexuality to seduce and trick Harry! Those temptresses!

For all women, sexuality and looks are a huge part of the characterization, but for the men -- except for Thomas -- sexuality and appearance are secondary. This bothers me immensely. And Harry's entire attitude toward women strikes me less as old-fashioned and more as patronizing and ignorantly well-intentioned. He treats women like women instead of like people.

Which isn't to say I don't like the books or some of the female characters, just that I have a lot of qualms with certain tendencies Butcher has in his characterization of his women.

As for Thomas/Butters -- I love it ridiculously and am hoping to finish my fic for them at some point. Because no one else will ever write it. XD

Anyway, I feel bad taking up all this space on [livejournal.com profile] aunt_zelda's journal, so if you want to continue some Dresden talk, I have an old review post here that we can talk at. :D

No problem!

Hahaha, REGENERATE! never gets old. NEVER EVER.
Particularly with such an appropriate scene. Time Lord? Check. Bullet wound? Check. 'Death' of the Master AGAIN? Check.

Yeah, I'm not upset that The Coat survived, but it makes no damn sense that 1) the Daleks HAVE an incinerator, and 2) Jack AND his clothes survived it.

He's got to hold a skull or make some similar reference to Hamlet in DW just like the HP references. That would be too cool.

You didn't know that was Chantho? When I was watching the episode I thought "hey, she reminds me of someone ... that COULDN'T be Chantho, though, right?" and then I went online and people were making macros of Chantho.

Awwww, thank you!

(*sporfles* Your icon ... LOVE IT!)
