Music of the Spheres
Jul. 28th, 2008 07:25 pmDamn, I wish I lived in England. I wish I knew what 'the Proms' were, and why they have an orchestra, and if they got attacked by a 'Grask' with the Doctor's water gun pistol. I wish I could remember the time-difference between there and here, so I could finish that last sentence with 'last night' or 'this morning' or 'two days ago.'
Hee hee, regardless, there's this cute little scene called 'Music of the Spheres' (search it on youtube, there's like a million uploads) in which the Doctor writes with a quill-pen, scribbles Gallifreyan circles on music sheets, breaks the fourth-wall, and is very mean to a 'Grask.' Am I the only one who liked the Grask? I thought he was cute!
I actually KNEW about the whole 'music of the spheres' thing before the Doctor explained, because a few months ago during the production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, we talked about it. It's actually used as an acting exercise, in which everyone closes their eyes and sings a note, like 'aaaaaah' or 'oooooo' or something, and everyone tries to sing at a different level than the person sitting next to them. It sound REALLY pretty in a haunting sort of way.

Date: 2008-07-29 03:26 pm (UTC)I always wish I wasn't so skitterish and "zomg they're all gonna laff at you" and could try acting myself ^^
You have clearly never observed a group of actors (most of them with children or even grandchildren) doing warm-up exercises. It's the most embarrassing, hilarious thing EVER. If I can do it, so can you! *jumps up and down and makes 'huuuaaaaaaaaaaaah!' noises*

Yeah, that was AWFUL ... my dad used to play the cello in an orchestra, and when I was a baby only playing songs from 'Carmen' would calm me down. Hee hee ...

Date: 2008-07-30 10:45 pm (UTC)Eee! When I was a baby I was addicted to Magic Flute! And still am, actually. Watching that video it blew my mind that anybody wouldn't at least know the basic 4/4 pattern. Then again, not everybody played viola all the way through public school,so. Whatevs.
