Important things you lot should know:
1) I has a new crush ... on a GIRL. *beams* Yes, I know! I was so mad with my brain for not liking girls ... and then yesterday I looked at this girl (who I met last Tuesday in my Shakespeare workshop) and ... yeah. *sighs* She's just so ... beautiful. I spent much of yesterday's workshop in a dazed trance, though since I've been so tired of late nobody noticed (I hope.)
*gulps* Much of yesterday's workshop was also spent thinking thoughts about this girl. (Let's just say I'm glad that there wasn't a telepath in the group, ok?)
2) Shakespeare has been keeping me busy. Workshops, preformances, soon a play ... *slumps* I've been extremely busy, ridiculously tired, and barely able to cling to my new story idea, much less give prompt replies to your comments, read ANY slash, or make more 'funny' macros. Sorry, but duty calls. *flourishy bow of apology*
3) I FORGOT TO VOTE IN THE DWTWSLASHAWARDS! I IS A BAD, BAD PERSON! *dashes off*
4) Yesterday evening I went out with aimisan to see The Dark Knight ...
ZOMG! THAT! WAS! FANTASTIC! (*kerslump*)
After watching that (and being absolutely floored by Heath Ledger's performance) I personally believe THAT is the kind of part that can kill you. He just ... GAH. I don't know HOW he did that, and I'm not sure I WANT to know ... *shivers*
Heath Ledger's Joker was one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen, and that INCLUDES the other disturbing bit of the movie, when the disfigured half of Harvey Dent's (was I the only one who automatically looked around for a towel-wielding Englishman whenever they said his name?) face was revealed. (Props to whoever CGI-ed that, but STILL ... *shivers* if I hadn't been so dog-tired last night when I got home, I would have had serious trouble sleeping.)
"Watch me make this pencil disappear ..."
*dives under the desk*
I squeaked, hid my face, gasped, laughed, yelped, flinched, and recoiled by pulling my legs up to my chest more than I have EVER done in response to ONE actor in ONE movie in my ENTIRE life (and I don't doubt that this will hold record for the rest of my life.)
The surprise cameo of Eric Roberts (aka Mr. Skeevy Lips, aka Thompson, aka the-Worst-Master-in-the-History-of-the-Whoverse) was unexpected, terrifying, but I must grudingly admit he acted welland was kind enough not to eat any of his fellow cast-members. (When he came onscreen I flinched and hid my face.)
The surprise cameo of Richard from Lost was funny, even though I kept expecting him to do something creepy or vaguely-evil. (Does that man go ANYWHERE without his eyeliner? I don't MIND, I'm just wondering.)
Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman (both two of my favorite actors) had little to do in this movie, but what they had, they KICKED SERIOUS ASS WITH.
Wtf was the point of having the Scarecrow there if all he was gonna do was turn around a lot and get tied up with some Batman-wanabees?
"I'm not wearing hockey pads."
*sporfles*
The Batmobile saying 'Goodbye' was pretty dang hilarious.
On the action-shots of the movie, I respect the explosions (they weren't random and pointless, they were very well done and, though over-the-top, believably so) and LOVED the car-chase (usually car-chases in movies and shows are on highways, this one, in a tunnel, was FANTASTIC. It added to the tension instead of cramping the action.) but I was disopointed with the fight-scenes. If the camera had gotten any closer, all we'd have seen were the fibers of the costumes and the glint of the Batsuit. 'Course, The New Yorker prepared me for that, but still ... (I agree with the 'snooty' magazine on this point: "At times, the movie sounds like two excited mattresses making love in an echo chamber." Seroiusly, whoever decided to replay the soundtrack of PotC over and over again ought to find employment elsewhere for the next movie.)
Speaking of the next movie, does anyone know who we're gonna get? The Riddler? (Apparently David Tennant woudl LOVE to do that.) Catwoman? (Not Halle Berry, PLEASE GODS ABOVE!) Poison Ivy? (Oh, that'd be SICK! *grinz*) The Penguin? (I never quite understood how a penguin could be menecing, and, in this post-Happy-Feet-March-of-the-Penguins society, perhaps the rest of the world wouldn't either.)
Ah, Rachel. Rachel, Rachel, Rachel. What on Batman's-badly-lit EARTH did she bring to the movie? She didn't even get to kick ass in a courtroom! Then she was killled off to drive a man psycho and make Bruce ... more angsty? Can the man CONVEY any more angst? If the writers/producers/directors/etc. thought that killing of Bruce Wayne's (canon) love-interest would generate a facial-response from Christian Bale, they were graveley mistaken. The man just ... can't. Don't get me wrong, I love his Batman, and he really pegs him and Bruce Wayne well ... but the man's face is just ... BLAH. (Am I the only one who wants Bruce to someday show up with several hot MALE companions? Yes? *shrugs* Ah well ... *sighs* kinda reminds me of Light from Death Note going out on dates with girls whilst under suspicion though, so it's ok.)
On that note, the writers REALLY aren't trying at ALL to discourage the slash. Seriously. I went into the movie intending to watch it from a non-slasher POV. I thought that Mr. Ledger and everyone else deserved that much from me.
Then the Joker went off on that WONDERFUL spiel about how he and Batman need each other and how they're gonna be 'playing' forever and "YOU COMPLETE ME!" and ... yeah, I completely (no pun intended) lost it when the Joker said "You complete me!" to Batman. Ask aimisan. My mouth dropped open I turned to her and made my customary insane 'Christhanukwanza has come early!' face.
(Am I the only one who thinks that the Joker's 'smile' looks a helluva lot like Batman's symbol? ... I'm going crazy from Shakespeare-overdose and sleep-deprevation, you say? Ok ...)
"I'm a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do if I caught one!"
That just might just be my favorite line in the history of movies. Yes I'm taking it as the Joker referring to his chase-scrimage-sparring-thing with Batman.
Again, on the subject of the next movie: I wanna know about Robin. When I mentioned this to aimisan, she speculated that the Joker and Batman had a lover's spat, and we giggled for a while and drew strange looks.
Overall, though, to me the movie didn't feel like a movie, it felt like a series of episodes strung together. It was VERY long, and I kept thinking "aha, NOW it'll be over ..." and it didn't. 'S ok, just puting that out there.
R.I.P. Mr. Ledger. To us, you will never die.
Ah, Dr. Horrible fans! I have two questions for you!
1) Do we know, for a fact, that 'Bait' and 'Switch' are girls?
2) Why does Dr. Horrible have two hardcover copies of HP6 and two hardcover copies of HP7 on his bookshelf next to his big chair?
1) I has a new crush ... on a GIRL. *beams* Yes, I know! Date: 2008-07-23 10:55 pm (UTC)His Batman/Bruce Wayne is really good except his Batman voice! Dear god his batman voice! What the hell.
WHY was the mayor wearing eyeliner? Does he just do that? Because the first time he was on screen my boy friend turned to me and went, "Uuuuuh why is wearing makeup?"
The Joker! THE JOKER! What can I even say about that! It was amazing/wonderful/fantastic/scary/perfect. It was the best performance of anything from any actor that I have seen in a long time. Hands down the best super villain ever portrayed. Not that I think of The Joker as a villain exactly. More of just...a chaotic force. I dunno what I'm trying to say. Anyway it was awesome. And I'm seeing it again. Friday.

Date: 2008-07-25 08:37 pm (UTC)Yeah, aimisan (who'd never seen a Batman movie) asked me why Batman sounded like he had bronchitis. I really doubt that lowlife criminals and insane Chaos agents will recognize Batman's voice as Bruce Wayne's, so I don't see why the rasp is nessesary/
Yeah, wtf is up with that eyeliner? Makes no damn sense to me.
Yes, the Joker isn't so much a villian as an agent of Chaos. I believe that we need Chaos to keep the universe balanced. (Hense why I love Doctor/Master so much.)
Argh! Wish I could see it again, but I haven't the time or money for gas!

And there were many more. I was sitting next to my boyfriend who is a little mad and can do the most scary Joker immpression imaginable who also foudn it funny and kept laughing too so I think I just flipped a little bit and went with it.

Heh heh, that one WAS good ... hell, everything he SAID was fantastic! I couldn't even TRY to fight loving him ... *shivers* ok, that 'disapearing pencil' thing was gross and made me shriek into my hands, but that didn't stop me from being transformed into a Joker-fangirl within those two-and-a-half-hours ...

Date: 2008-08-03 10:12 pm (UTC)I quoted him for the next three days and drove my family a little bit crazy hehehe.
Oh yes, he made me an instant Joker fangirl right about when he said 'no... I killed the bus driver'

4: Sounds like The Dark Knight was AWESOME! I have heard nothing but good things about it, I guess I'll have to go and see it soon...(and I like never go to the theaters, unless something REALLY interests me, so that should say something! =D The last thing I saw in theaters was The Forbidden Kingdom and it was AWESOME!)
Sounds great! lol *yawns* I hate having to get up early. Mornings are not FTW. X___X

Date: 2008-07-25 08:46 pm (UTC)Shakespeare was FANTASTIC. (The workshop did its showcase today, which was WONDERFUL, and I did so well and had so much fun, and now I and a few others are crossing over to the actual play.)
You really MUST see The Dark Knight in theaters. I don't go to the movies much, but this summer has been great for movies thus far. (Kung-Fu Panda, Wall-E, Hancock, and now The Dark Knight ...)

and all the rest.
Right now...just trying to stay awake! I'm giong to be typing at home. hopefully i can get my fic done. :D

Ah, the X-Files ... yet another fandom I ought to watch and have yet to find the time to get into ... *headdesk*
Good luck with your fic! *slumps over keyboard* I can't wait to go to bed tonight ... I did a preformance for the closing of my Shakespeare Workshop today and ... *slump* FANTASTIC, but exhausting.

Date: 2008-07-31 07:42 pm (UTC)I adored this film, and I've never seen a terrifing film in the cinema that takes me past the point of 'take-off-my-glasses-so-I-can't-see-what's-going-on' stage. Now I know that all that is past that is slightly hysterical silent giggling which took hold every time the Joker spoke. God that man was a genius. His acting alone scared me much more than any amount of horrific CG makeup. , and that DID freak me out. Heath, I hope you can understand and are recieving our apreciation where every you are, we really do love you. Only he can make everyone shake violently, scream and laugh in the same movie. Oh, and on top of that I also felt very very sad when it hid me smack in the face ten mins in that he's never acting again.

Date: 2008-08-01 03:25 pm (UTC)Yes, that's a much better description than mine ...
God that man was a genius. His acting alone scared me much more than any amount of horrific CG makeup. , and that DID freak me out.
Oh yeah, Aaron Eckhart's(incredibly well-done) CGI was scary, and the character himself was scary too, but he was NOTHING compared to the Joker. I mean ... GAH! Most terrifying thing I've ever ENJOYED.
Oh, and on top of that I also felt very very sad when it hid me smack in the face ten mins in that he's never acting again.
*wibbles* Yeah, I know the feeling ... he'd better get an Oscar. If he doesn't, I am confident that hell will freeze over.

I mean, I've always though of Robin as a bit ... campy, but hell, every superhero world has a certain degree of camp ... I think every fandom NEEDS a bit of camp, simply to keep the balance of the universe ...
It WOULD be interesting to see how they'd handle Robin in a modern sense ... *sigh* guess that's what fanfic is for ...
Next movie: lesbian!Poison Ivy and bisexual!Harley Quinn. Yes.
I SECOND THAT MOTION!

Ah, TDK ... that was easily one of the most fantastic movies EVER. Heath Ledger merits an Oscar for his preformance, hands down.
