Since I so rarely get a live person, I made the most of it today:

"Is this the ____ residence?" she asked.
"Yeah ..." I said.
"Is this Mr. or Mrs.?" she asked in a level, dull voice. She called yesterday.
"No, I'm afraid she's out studying dolphins in the Bay City area, please call back later!" and then I hung up.

*GRINZ* I am so evil ... but it made me feel good.

In other news, I'm making headway on my notes (though it's annoying, because a good portion of them were written when I was half-asleep, so I've been spending much of this afternoon/evening deciphering scribbles and discovering that I get semi-dyslexic when I'm half-asleep.)
Ah well, also attempting a character meme for deviantart, and trying to figure out if Irish gangs are a credible antagonistic force for my novel.

(Strawberry daquiris are the BEST ...)

Your response may actually have brightened that telemarketer's day. Having known several people who have done the cold-calling gigs (I have never been able to bring myself to, personally), it's a boring-ass job and poeple who say funny things, rather than yell at you, are the kind of people you like to have pick up the phone.

Also, any kind of alcoholic fruit slushy drink rules. =)

I hope I made someone's day better ... then again, it might inspire her to call more frequently, to hear more intricate responses ... *shrugs*

'Specially strawberry ones! (And watching a lovely romantic comedy with your mother that doesn't make you roll you eyes. We so seldom get together to watch movies, and usually it's me trying to make a sci-fi nut out of her, or her hitting me over the head with romantic comedies involving Englishmen, so 'Definitely, Maybe' was refreshing.)

(*sporfles* Love the icon ...)

*sporflesDIEZ* You made me laugh for five straight minutes ... thank you! *slumps*

I will have to add that to the list ... mental list, not actual list ... yet ... I've had the dolphins thing in my head for a while now ... I just never got a live person ...

The friend of a friend kept someone selling plastic siding for houses on the phone for half an hour before he asked how the plastic siding would fit onto his log cabin. (No joke! He actually has a log cabin!)

Well, if you ever want to get a really good idea for this, and if you're good at improv, then you can try something like The Greatest Prank Call Ever (http://youtube.com/watch?v=J5z4Vs26-TI). :D

At my job, we get a lot of telemarketers, so I asked my boss if it was okay for me to screw with telemarketers should they call, and they said that I could. :DD

I end up playing with a lot of different stories and accents--I'll answer normally, realize it's a telemarketer, put them on hold, pick it back up a little bit later and use an accent to act like I'm someone else. I've done this up to five different accents on one person, which was probably one of the funniest moments of my life, because they really thought they were talking to five separate people. XDDDDD

Plus, it makes for great theatrical practice. :DD

*sporfles* Someone REALLY had a good time with that ... that poor telemarketer! I bet he's traumatized for life ... "If gay is your way, that's ok ..."

Ha! That sounds like so much fun! Hopefully someday I will be in a position to do that!

Wow ... I suck at accents, but mayhaps I could speak in gibberish and sound REALLY angry ...

Damn, now I WANT them to call!
