Memorial Day
May. 26th, 2008 09:52 amJust because I'm not aware that a relative of mine died in a war in service to their country (that I'm aware of, probably somewhere down the line I DO, I have a big family) today isn't just a holiday, or a sales day, or a barbecue day. It's a day to remember and honor those who've died to protect people, and protect/preserve America.
I'm not saying every war/invasion we've gone into was right or just or handled well, but some were, and no matter WHY they're there, we should respect the troops.
Now, let's get them out of Iraq, this is getting RIDICULOUS.

Date: 2008-05-26 04:35 pm (UTC)'Fraid that's the story of America, concerned with our holidays. Sales, sports, and the consuming of dead carcasses. *shudders* Thanksgiving is HORRIFIC for me because it combines relative-visiting, huge dead birds (placed RIGHT in front of ME, every time, I SWEAR) and the 'manly' sport of men-in-tights TACKLING each other (really, who came up with that shit?)
It's your birthday today? Oh my ... happy birthday all the same!

*sigh* Yeppers. Now Americans are known in the Middle East as boorish invaders after oil. WHY are we not in Darfur again?!
