Title: Be Him
Rating: Umm … PG-13? R? There’s some sex, but I don’t go into detail and it’s not explicit, ok?
Genre: Angst?
Warnings: Um … it’s short?
Disclaimer: Uh … obviously I don’t own Heroes, because if I did, I’d have Mylar making out on screen instead of in slash fics or my twisted mind …
Summary: Sylar meets a shape-shifter … but doesn’t kill her … read on!
My Thoughts: Don’t know where this came from, or why it’s written in the first-person. And, yes, there are enough desperate shape-shifters that they formed a ‘business.’ I probably won’t continue this, unless I get a horde of people begging and threatening like the LAST TIME I posted a stand-alone fic, because now I’m working on the ‘Stop Me’ AU and sequels.
Just read it already!
“Well well well,” I said, looking the client up and down. “Aren’t you handsome …”
He looked a little ticked off. “Be him,” he snapped. “I didn’t pay for you, I paid for him.”
I shrugged. “If that’s what you want,” it wasn’t my place to judge. Only the very sick, the very lonely, or the very strange came here to make love with people who could only imitate what they really wanted.
“You can really do it?” he didn’t sound skeptical, like all the rest. Just breathless, anticipating, fearful. He didn’t want to get his hopes up, this tall, brown-haired man in the dark coat.
“Of course,” I took a deep breath, recalling the pictures this man had provided. I’d even taken extra cash and trailed the subject, watching his habits, memorizing his voice. Photographic memory just came with this … ability.
The tall man gasped. But this, too, was different from others: it wasn’t a shocked, disbelieving gasp. This gasp was a release of intense emotions: more longing then frightened.
“Does this work?” I asked, my voice replicating the subject’s.
“Yes …” the tall man closed his eyes, sighing deeply, then snapped them open. Fires were burning inside them. “Mohinder,” he whispered, as if savoring something sweet. “Mohinder …”
I was surprised by the tall man’s aggression. He’d seemed so timid, calm, composed. Now he was like a wild animal … almost terrifying. I hadn’t met too many others this vicious, this violent, and yet the tall man still retained a shred or two of his former shell: he was rough and soft at the same time.
“Say my name,” he ordered, panting.
Dammit, I thought. You didn’t tell me, you idiot. He knows: I don’t.
Frantically, I used that small sliver of another … ability. Let it work, I pleaded. Come on, dude, what the hell is your name?
“Sylar …” I moaned in the subject’s voice.
“Good …” the tall man – Sylar – replied.
Psycho. I thought.

You gotta imagine he'd want to just throttle Mohinder sometimes, and other mortal things... If it's not actually Mohinder it's okay if (s)he doesn't survive. Creepy.
