Playing RPGs with GMs who are screenwriters is utterly spoiling me. Today I played Geist for the first time and the guy played a Spooky And Thematic Song at the end as we delivered the ghost of a corrupt judge to ... well, justice in a way.
It was so cinematic. It was like watching the end of a really satisfying arc of a tv show, but I was in it, I got to contribute.
Gods it was so fantastic.
Played Geist today for the first time and it was WILD
ended up having to deal with a reaper who'd lost access to his mask and was trying to get it back
so we had to stop him
he was this corrupt evil judge from like the 18 somethings in New Orleans who'd like beat people in the street
We were in his old house where he burned to death, finding anchors.
I used a thing to make it into a Haunted House with eerie features. He arrived and started setting the place on fire to kill us all. I created a spectral chain and the guys tied him up with it and and beat him up and I used the Boneyard ability to like, invoke a thing in him and I made him feel Shaken and so all these voices of the people he condemned were screaming "guilty!" at him over and over and and we were promising to drag him to the underworld where they were waiting for him.
(mechanically, this made him fail his next roll, which was good, 'cause it enabled us to get him into the spectral car we have and drive him into the Underworld)
then the DM played a really good cover of O Death on his phone and narrated us driving through the Underworld and what it looks like and it was very eerie
and then we said we tossed the Judge out and left him to the crowds.
And as we drove off back to Earth, we saw the taillights illuminating this crowd slowly closing in on him and swallowing him up.
shouting about how they were innocent, he killed them, he killed their kin, etc.
gosh it was so good.
so dramatic
It was this version

Also we ritually drowned one of the guys to get him to do an oracle thing and we all had to hold him down. That was kinda hot.
