SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

STEAMPUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SINGING! SHARKS! ADORKABLENESS!!! STEAMPUNK!

What I loved about this one (besides the STEAMPUNK OMG STEAMPUNK AND FISHES IN THE CLOUDS FISHES IN THE CLOUDS) was the fact that I didn't end the episode feeling horribly depressed and convinced that Christmas was all about death and angst. No, I ended this episode tearful, yes, but it was the good kind of tearful that comes from evoking real emotional responses in a person, not the kind of tearful you get from watching the entire cast DIE and Ten decide to be Jesus again, some more.

It was, like, the sadness of inevitable loss, but instead of just dwelling on the tragedy, acknowledging it and then comforting you. The sadness of loss COUPLED with the comfort of sharing said loss with a group of good friends. I really got the feeling of "yes, sad things happen, you can avoid some of them but not others, and you're going to get through this in the end, here, let me give you a hug" from this episode. Like a good friend hugging you after an older family member dies.

Plus, the visuals were simply gorgeous. I mean, good god, I could go on and on about them for pages ...

And I will. Later this month. Probably next week. I'm going to get through the latest season and write WAZT for all of them. This is just a quickie.

I'm so glad I saw this one tonight, at the Doctor Who club at my college. There was a Yankee swap sort of thing beforehand (that nobody swapped at because we're all so nice and loved our gifts). I got a mix CD from someone and gave three socks and some post-it notes as a gift. The girl who received it loved it, but was confused as to why there were three socks. I did that because I had three pairs of Christmas socks and didn't want to just give two, so I gave three random ones.
