This episode was FANTASTIC. Words can't praise it enough. I'm VERY ticked off that I won't be able to see it again next week ... jiska! (The Doctor Who episode before it was wonderful as well, but not as much as this!)
Let's just get this out right now: Ianto = MAJOR NEED OF HUGGLES!
Ok, first scene, when Ianto's walking down into the Batcave I mean ... (the big open part of Torchwood where basically everything happens!) and we see the rest of the gang playing basketball I smiled and cheerily said 'Awww ... what's going to shatter this lovely domestic scene?'
And was it REALLY necessary to have all those shots of the Japanese guy’s mangled face? I had trouble getting to sleep last night because of that creepy zombie-cyborg thing …
Btw, Cybermen have been explained on DW before, haven’t they? There was a head in van Statten’s collection … but I’m confuzzled. Do we get more info in later episodes of EITHER show? Because I was rather clueless for most of the episode …
When Ianto started to cry I actually SAID ‘No! Don’t cry!’ I know I’m probably not the only one out there! Ianto’s just … so … *huggles him for years* Poor, poor guy …
And Jack was so MEAN and HORRIBLE in this ep! Who is HE to lecture Ianto about ‘hid[ing] yourself’?! Hello, Mr. IMMORTAL?! Owner of THE DOCTOR’S HAND IN A JAR?! Those who live in glass MANSIONS should not heave cannonballs!
I got very, very, VERY scared that Ianto was gonna die. I mean, we never saw Suzie’s death coming, so Ianto’s … *shivershiver* but then I realized what a fanbase Ianto has, and I was comforted.
Someone on the writing staff loves me. Most of you probably know this, but I go crazy for in-your-face scenes where people are all ‘I’m going to KILL YOU!’ (think the Mohinder-Sylar gun scene …) The fact that it was Jack and Ianto just made it about fifteen-times better. (Yeah, I’m sick and crazy, tell me something I DON’T KNOW.)
Also, what IS IT with Torchwood and all the snog-fests? Is there a person on the writing staff whose job it is to receive scripts and put ‘Insert Hot Make-Out Scene Between X and X’? If so, what a JOB! (Not that I’m complaining, mind you! The Owen-Gwen-We’re-Gonna-Die things was funny, and Jack-Ianto made me squee in my head.)
I’m never looking at the pterodactyl the same way AGAIN. NEVER calling it ‘cute’ EVER AGAIN! (Note: add ‘be doused in BBQ sauce and forced into Torchwood offices’ to list of horrible ways to die.)
Next week … I won’t have access to cable! I’ll have to watch next week’s episode in TWO WEEKS! ARGH! *headdesk*

Have you seen Season 2 yet? Because there's a lot more about the cybermen in DW Season 2, but I won't spoil it for you if you haven't gotten that far.
Haha I want my job to be inserting hot make-out scenes in scripts... I'd work for Heroes and I'd be like... "Okay, so we build lots of sexual tension here... aaaaaand MAKEOUT!"
Jack/Ianto <333 My Torchwood OTP....
Awww... that's the same problem I had last week lol.

I understand ONE SHOT, but not FIVE HUNDRED!

I'm viewing Season 2 via BBC America, so I just saw 'The Girl In The Fireplace' and haven't gotten too far ...

*sigh* That's my dream job, inserting hot-makeout scenes into sci-fi shows ...
Jack/Ianto <333 My Torchwood OTP....
I can see that ... they're just so WONDERFUL together and I adore their characters, but after the Lisa thing and all the gun-stuff, I can't see them together sweetly like they should be. I can see a sort of Mylar thing going on now ...

Date: 2007-09-30 05:43 pm (UTC)Hm, personally I'd disagree with that - Ianto's secrets endangered the lives of not just the team, but technically the rest of the human race too if Lisa had managed to escape, while Jack's immortal-ness isn't harming anyone. I'd have to have a little yell at Ianto over that, regardless of how cute he is. ;)
what IS IT with Torchwood and all the snog-fests?
lol, tell me about it. I swear they have, like, a quota that needs to be filled every episode. It's ridiculous!
Aw, reading your post is totally making me nostaglic for Torchwood now! I haven't watched it in ages. ♥

Date: 2007-09-30 07:53 pm (UTC)Well, yeah, I understand that Ianto's secret (note, singular) are more physically harmful, but Jack's are much WORSE. I mean, at least they know basic FACTS about Ianto ... plus, I'm lying in wait for the TARDIS to crash into Torchwood and all this 'I TRUSTED YOU JACK!' stuff to come out. Ianto was just trying to save his girlfriend's life ... granted, he was stupid about it, but but on the secret-scale Jack's eons above Ianto. Lecturing him about keeping secrets is a bit hypocritical of Jack, no way around it.

I'm not exactly complaining ... particularly all the guy-with-guy stuff!

Slash runs rampant: I'm in heaven!

I am in heaven. I sighed too! If they did that here in America, people would throw riots about 'Protect Our Children!' and such ... *sigh, exasperated* this country can be really thick sometimes ...
sucks that you won't get to see it until 2 weeks from now..... ;(
Yeppers! But you lot will get a double recap/rant!

Date: 2007-10-02 03:58 am (UTC)I've seen the whole season - you have much fun stuff in store :)
And then James Marsters is on at least one ep next season, which is why I started watching in the first place, 'cause Spike + all-bi-sexual TV show = 100% win. And I think it might be John Barrowman himself inserting all of the snogging.

*foams at the mouth* Ya shouldn't have told me that ... I'll smuggle myself into England now!

Date: 2007-10-03 01:06 am (UTC)If you aren't spoiler phobic, there are some great quotes from James Marsters and John Barrowman about the future ep HERE . I don't think they are major spoilers, and it's made me rabid with mouth-foaming. I'm just hoping the ep gets on the net right away, 'cause I have negative patience and they have been editing some of the dirtiest bits for American TV.
And since I'm a total enabler, the rest of the eps, in full, no commercials, are online HERE
