2011 isn't doing much to impress me thus far. I knew my workload was going to increase, I knew I wouldn't have as much free time for running around on the internet. I didn't know that the internet and the world would decide to start going crazy and stressing me out.

1. JO is a homophobe person who thinks that being LGBT is unnatural, a choice, and a 'lifestyle.' Like people would willingly choose to be hated, discriminated, kicked out of their homes, and called 'unnatural' by otherwise reasonable individuals.
No, JO, I won't attack you, as much as I'd love to lambast you to hell and back for having such a backwards opinion in this day and age. I thought you were an intelligent, kind, cool person. I was WRONG.
Edit: Oh, and that thing in Leviticus? Fun fact: women used to be property! The idea that a man would use another man like he used his wife was considered offensive at the time, because men were supposed to be equals, status-wise, and using your equal like you used your wife wasn't cool. THAT Is what the Leviticus passage means: don't demean your guy-friend by using him like you use your slave wife. It also says the follow things are unnatural: eating shrimp, shaving your beard, working on Saturday, having tattoos, poly-cotton blends, and crop rotation! So if you truly believe that you can't "pick and choose" with the Bible, you'd better take a good look at your wardrobe, your work schedule, and what kind of food you eat if you're going to take the stance on homosexuality too.

2. Tvtropes! Tvtropes wanting to ax the Fetish Fuel pages! I suggest saving the pages as best you can, I saved the ones relevant to my interests, but I didn't get them all. I wish I'd thought to save the code, now the pages are locked. I'm angry. I'm tired. I can't properly articulate myself in those forums (which aren't set up very well, if I'm going to be completely honest with you.) and fight with people who think they have the right to judge people for expressing what turns them on. It's prudish, stupid, and an abuse of power. Personal bias shouldn't factor into this. Finding something "creepy" is not grounds for deletion. Finding something "illegal" (re: pedophilia) is, but that can be easily remedied by some gorram moderation on that site. Deletion of a whole page for a couple 'squicky' things just isn't right, no two ways around it. If you don't want to be squicked, don't click something clearly marked 'Fetish Fuel.' I have no time to properly deal with this. I wish I did, but it's stressing me out and I need to focus on ...

3. .... my workload. There's so much. My internet life is getting in the way of accomplishing it. *headdesk*

Edit: 4. Egypt. I feel so ashamed about America's reaction to this: We should DO SOMETHING! ... Should we DO SOMETHING? We should DO SOMETHING! ... Should we DO SOMETHING?

1. I can't believe she said that. I just can't. JO, dear, if people call you a bigot? It's because you ARE. If you don't like that, change your mind, geeze.

Like the good lady above said, there's a new wikia that's just been made. http://fetishfuel.wikia.com/wiki/Fetish_Fuel_Wiki So when Critic has a new crying fit or AT4W has a EvulIsSexy thing, we can put it there. ;)

Well the crowner will be up for a few days, and its not like Noble Bigot which is near the top and really does need to die. (You're nice but you think LGBT people are "irregular"? WAT?)

Copying TGWTG for now, but I've told other people on the threads and Advertising is already on there.

spending a good hour copying in my most beloved from the to-be-purged-with-fire list (Even The Girls Want Her? Really?)
I really wish they'd put up a thing on the homepage saying "these pages might be deleted: vote now!" instead of hiding it away and holding a vote during 24 hours and then saying "ok, the popular Fetish Fuel pages will be deleted!" WTF?

Sometimes it helps just to make a list. Even if there's nothing to be done, it helps me to rant.

Okay, this is my foot, and I am bringing it down. JO is NOT a homophobe. Homophobes are hateful and hurtful and want to eradicate gay people from society. JO is concerned, because of what she has witnessed. If you read her answers to follow-up questions she admits that she doesn't know very much about the "lifestyle", and the largely political nature of most material about it makes it difficult for her to read or understand it, but she is willing to learn more and correct her ignorance on the subject. That's not homophobia.

There is a difference between being a hateful bigot and having a misguided, uninformed opinion.

Fair point. *fixed*

Still, when someone calls it a "lifestyle" I see red. I don't care: if someone thinks it's a choice, I loose all respect for them, regardless of whether they're militant homophobes or well-meaning ignoramuses. I'm still mad. It hurts the most when it's someone you used to like.

From: [identity profile] nochi_san.livejournal.com
Fair enough. I'm not crazy about that point, either, but I think it's equally offensive (to respond to [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]) to attach labels to her for what she admits is an under-educated opinion when she is willing to learn more.

(Also, and I apologize because this is just me being insanely tired of the Leviticus argument, but she wasn't quoting Leviticus. In fact, the only thing she did say, Bible-wise, was that it "doesn't gel well with scripture".)

Honestly, this is edging into a religious tolerance thing for me, and that's one of my rage-triggers, so I'm going to excuse myself from the conversation at this point.

Someone willing to come up with a label that means "heteronormatic in an inconsiderate and offensive way"?
I'm fond of 'ignoramus' but that's just me being silly. (It sounds like the name for a dinosaur!)

From: [identity profile] aunt-zelda.livejournal.com
Well then, why did she say it's "unnatural" and a "lifestyle" if she's soooooo open to learning more? Saying "come back to me in a couple months when I've done some poking around online" would have been perfectly acceptable. Saying "Personally it makes me uncomfortable and lots of people I've known have been unhappy, but I realize that I don't have the full picture here" would have been fine. Calling homosexuality "unnatural" is NOT fine. Saying you can't pick and choose with the Bible and then deriding Leviticus ... but going with the "unnatural gayness" thought isn't fine. In fact, it's kinda hypocritical.

Religious tolerance is great, but it has to go both ways. I'll tolerate you if you tolerate me. Once people start using ancient social codes to justify making people's lives miserable in this day and age, I'm NOT going to tolerate them. I'm going to express my anger as politely as I can and walk away.

I have to agree with you.

Please God, don't let us get into a fight, but nombre is Christian and she really gets upset by that kind of talk. Not all Christians are Fred Phelps-like bigots and there are plenty of good, decent people who really hate being tarred with that brush.

And it's only sexist if you die, right? This is still homophobia. This is someone saying that because I am queer, there is something wrong with me. This is the kind of homophobia I hate. These are the people who deny me healthcare, make it hard for me to get a job, smile at me and say that they don't hate ME. They jus don't like one part of ke, discounting the fact that it is as part of me as my name or my eye color. She doesn't want me to die, doesn't want me to suffer, but in her perfect world, people like me would not exist.

I'm sorry, this probably comes off as hostile. I'm having a bad day, it ain't gonna be getting better soon. I do not mean to come off as confrontational.

Thank you for saying what I couldn't articulate myself.
While I'm not sure it's homophobia (I associate homophobia with hatred and fear and ignorance, as opposed to just plain ignorance) it sure is offensive. Being gay is perfectly natural, that's been PROVEN. It's been taken out of the mental illness register. It's been documented in the animal kingdom for Artemis' sake!
The level of ignorance she's displaying in this day and age is just SAD.

I'm really sorry, cysfics. I wish there was something I could do to help. :( *Prays she isn't butting in*

And zel, I agree. I mean...maybe Jesu didn't mean it the way she did, but she could have at least done her research in terms of homosexuality. Maybe it's just less offensive than it is...brain-breakingly dumb.

And all I can say is, I agree with you concerning Egypt as well. :) (And I have to love your Linkara reference. "We should DO SOMETHING!" ... "Should we do something?" Just my personal favorite joke -- among many -- in the COUNTDOWN review)

*Takes deep breaths*

Witnessed? Witnessed? My good sir or madam -- what exactly *has* she "witnessed" of the gay lifestyle? As far as I'm concerned, those "dirty homosexuals" are probably no different than you or I. They just...prefer members of their own sex.

And while it *is* nice to hear that she's willing to learn more, I think she should have gone to Wikipedia in the first place just to avert the crisis. I mean...it's not hard. If she were a teenage girl, I think it would have been excusable, but she's a grown, intelligent woman, for Christ's sake! I mean, I know I would have done it if I were in her pants.

(Okay, that sounded really dirty, but you get my point. :)

Late to the party...

But she IS a hompophobe. Homophobia is a fear or misguided judgment upon gay individuals. A bigot is someone who hates gays or other races for stupid reasons, but make no mistake, JO is homophobic.

Hey. Don't stress about it. Don't worry about it. It will get done when it will get done. Just focus on what is most important to you right now. Those things can't hurt you. There should be no emotion behind. You put that emotion there. You can easily ignore it. Less stress. If that doesn't work. Try Yoga breathing excersize. It really calms you down. :D

Should I add this to the Dethroning Moment of Suck page? Because that's definitely what it feels like. :/

And just out of pure Bile Fascination, what exactly was she talking about? How the mighty blue Jesus did she work the anti-homosexuality angle into an anime review? My good lady...you haven't just made the baby Jesus cry. You made *blood* shoot out his nose! *Beep*ing *hell*, first Nash, now JesuOtaku. WTFIWWY, Internet?

(Sorry if it sounds like I'm "butting in" but...yeah. :/)

I read Leviticus fo a story I was working on. And in the modern version, rather than the King James, it really was an eye-opener. I was headdesking for a good half-hour.

As for TV Tropes, you've probably tried this, but does Google have a cached page? They're often a week or two old.

The Fetish Fuel is okay now, at least in theory. They're still killing it ((and lots of the TT)) but at least it has a home. Well, some of the people on the discussion thread are hoping worried that Google may kick it off there too...

Frig off Gaystapo. Putting an end to any discussion by putting labels on people -- that's pretty much all you people know how to do. Forget facts. Just call someone a homophobe!

As if all the disease among the gay population isn't reason enough to state it's inappropriate. And as far as being born gay, there are plenty of people freed from Gay attraction, me being one of such people! There is no gay gene every proven!

Fight for real rights in the world as there are plenty to fight for. Just ask the million starving Africans out there or stop some gays from being throw off rooftops in the third world. Enough with your first-world rights-over-inundation. Rights are good for a society but Liberals have pushed them to the point of ironically being detrimental, whereas they used to be beneficial to a society's development.
