What aunt_zelda Thinks: The Sasquatch Gang

I really enjoyed this movie. I mean, they had me the minute they pulled out their Boffer LARP weapons. Sure, the cast is full of insufferable assholes that I would like nothing more than to punch in the face, but there are realistic, identifiable, and amusing characters in this sardonic, nasty mix.
I especially liked the use of 'one scene from these characters's perspectives, later on the same scene from another character's perspective.' Very clever and well done. Hobie's inner monologue and flashbacks were especially good.
I loved the cryptozoologist. He was like what you'd get if you crossed Steve Irwin with Morgan Freeman: EPIC!!!
The main thing that sold this movie for me was how it didn't take itself seriously. It gets cartoonish at times, but that's ok, because the realism drags it back to believability later. The long slow-mo shot of half the town going down the trail was especially great.
Plus, that final knock-down, drag-out fight between the worst assholes in the movie and the geeks was truly fantastic to behold. I mean, the choreography was really good. I mean, who hasn't at some point in their life wanted to WHALE on someone with a fake sword? (Ok, maybe that's just me … me and whoever made this movie …)
In short: any movie that has a dopey guy with no shirt staggering around spouting dopy dialogue, a cop who says "She-Ra, this is He-Man, copy" and Boffer LARP is a movie worth checking out.
Favorite quotes:
"If the Sasquatch is human the government will have to provide proper housing … schoolhouses, medicare, and foodstamps!"
"Now is no time to talk about your friend's hygiene!"
"Bigfoot Biscuits! They give you the strength of ten men! And the ladies like them too!"
P.S. Doctor Artimus Snodgrass has joined the honored list of my All Time Favorite Characters EVER. It's impossible to watch the man and not laugh. If nothing else, watch this movie for his performance alone.

(Seriously, how many of us would have paid to see *that* in Deathly Hallows? :D)
I'll definitely check out the movie when I have the time. :)
