Well,  work wasn't all that bad! It was actually kind fun. I watched loads of training videos about the company and harassment and service and got trained and started working. I'm pretty tired but it was pretty nice. Working (and getting moneys!) is good. Eating within a time limit ... not so nice, but I can deal with that, considering the flexibility and the moneys.

Thoughts on Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland:

Hmmmm ...
Well, it was gorgeous. Every second of it was gorgeous. And Anne Hathaway was at her prettiest. And Johnny Depp reciting Jabberwocky in a Scottish accent is one of the sexiest things I've ever seen/heard in my entire life. And all the references to Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass were awesome and made me cackle with glee.
But ...
But ...
*sighs* This is probably going to get me internet murdered, but ...

What did it bring to the table that was new? Grown-up Alice? We've had that. Alice being nervous in front of a large group of fancy people, running off to Wonderland, gaining self-confidence, and coming back and wowing everyone? We've had that! (My favorite Alice adaption, the made-for-TV-movie version from 1999 with Whoopi Goldberg and Gene Wilder and it was AWESOME.) Alice fighting the Queen of Hearts (the Queen of HEARTS, not the RED Queen) and slaying the Jabberwock? We've had that. (American McGee's Alice.) Hatter with a dark past and dead clan? We've had that. (The Looking Glass Wars.)
Don't get me wrong, it was a fun ride and the imagery was gorgeous and the jokes were funny and made me laugh, and I enjoyed ever second of it ... but once it was over I felt ... 'meh.' What was new? What boundaries were pushed? What changed in Alice? What changed in Wonderland, in the inhabitants, in us? We got several indications that this was not the first time (Alice returning and people knowing who she was, the Jabberwock recognizing the Vorpal Sword that's slain it before, etc.) but instead of giving the story depth it took away the tension, the drive of the story. It had all happened before, and it was going to happen again. It was short, glorious to look at, and ultimately over and safely packed up before it could leave a lasting impression on me.
Which is a real shame, because Tim Burton is the MAN and mixing him with fairy tales is a recipe for pure, undiluted AWESOMESAUCE. Maybe he should have kept Alice the little girl, and gone through the usual storyline, except with his new imagery added to the picture, and ended with Alice waking up at home? Would that have been too boring or predictable? Would it have somehow been 'better' (for lack of a better word) than what we got? I have no freaking clue.

*sighs* Did I mention that it was BEAUTIFUL? I wanted to curl up in that world and have tea at the Mad Party and cuddle with the Cheshire Cat (who, at first, terrified me to no end) and gaze at the White Queen for all eternity and fence with the Knave and banter with the Caterpillar.

It was a dream. A lovely, crazy, clever, familiar, dream. And, I guess, isn't that what it's supposed to be?

P. S. If I was going to talk about slash potential I'd mention that I felt that the Cheshire Cat was making the moves on Hatter and that both Queens were admiring Alice at one point or another. Squee?

Thoughts on 90's Kid At4W:

Awww, I love his enthusiasm! It's refreshing after the day I had ...

OMG HE'S SINGING HIS OWN VERSION OF THE SONG! (Harvey totally should have done that last week ...)
... oh dear, he can't rhyme. Or sing. That's a pity, because he's so excited ...

"he's a man ... no, wait, he's a kid ... wait, I'm him ..."
*sporfleDIEZ* Oh, 90's Kid, you are AWESOME ...

"whoaaaa, this is getting, like, really meta or something."
*sporfles* He speaks our language! Let's kidnap him!

"Duuuuuuuuuuuuuudes! ... and chicks."
Hee! He knows we're here!

Auuuuuw, he's so excited! It's so cute! *wants to glomp him* It's so nice, after Linkara's raging in the past, to see someone who's really psyched to be reading the subject material. Even if it's really awful.
...
*wants to see 90's Kid Dramatically Read Twilight*
*kicks self into unconciousness for suggesting such a thing*

Hee hee hee ... he's like a big, righteous puppy dog ... *pets him*

"Only GUYS read comics!"
*crunches a soda can in my hand* Wait ... since when do I drink soda?

90's Kid is clearly a Boob Man, not a Leg Man. Why am I not surprised? (No comment about the chick's awesome goggles? That's what caught MY attention ... I'm weird.)

... did he just say 'chiyah?' I thought only Valley Girls said that ...

"Clearly he was pondering whether to add more POUCHES to his GIANT SHOULDER PADS!"

Heeeeeee ... what would 90's Kid make of Deadpool, I wonder?

"Oh, I get it ... *grinz* she's watching MTV!"
*sporfleDIEZ*

'Major Disaster?' That's ... a pretty lame name, dude. It sounds like something one of my dad's ex-boyfriends would say about an outfit.

"What a nice terrorist!"
Heeeee ... that's really not funny, is it?

"Major Disaster is awesome too! His head's on FIRE and stuff!"

Is 90's Kid high? If not, what would happen if he got high? ... *shudders*

"Uh ... dude?"
"All Right, Sorry."
*laughtrack*

*sporfles* Pollo, you are a Saint.

*watches 90's Kid sound-effects dance in utter confusion* Ok ...

Yes, dear, Batman IS hardcore. (Is anyone else worried about how much sugar this guy's been consuming? Or how much Ritalin he needs?)

Hee! Harvey, I wouldn't mind you taking over for the next two weeks ... *swoons*
Wait, Linkara left a message about a successor should he be kidnapped or killed? Yipes! (That was awfully competent of him ...)

TWO WEEKS?! Anything could happen in two weeks! 90's Kid could meet Insano and stage a coup! Mechakara could come back! Linkara could undergo more space-torture at the hands of evil!Iron Liz/Lord Vyce/Good!But-Cautious!Iron Liz, etc! I could write fanfiction about any and all of those situations! *flails*

Cheshire Cat was one of my favorite parts. He was just so ... COOL! And Stephen Fry FTW! (All the voice-acting was stellar.)

I still need to see alice still :(

as for 90's kid; you got to love him and getting scared of DarkSyde on the game is just so cute. Love harvey at the end and I wanna know whos going to be on next week. It could be Iron Liz, ninja style dancer (be the weriest review ever) or even Pollo himself XD

My vote is for Mechakara Iron Liz ^_^

I reccommend watching it, but it's not the mind-blowing extravaganza we were promised. It's lovely to look at and fun to watch, but nothing more.

It could be Iron Liz, ninja style dancer (be the weriest review ever) or even Pollo himself XD
I kinda hope it's Ninja-Style dancer. Him holding up signs would get old ... maybe there could be text boxes? I think that Iron Liz will be from another dimension (or somehow connected to Lord Vyce, whether she's actually him, his daughter, his Dragon, or his nemesis, whatever.)

Y'know, after me and my sisters saw Alice, we all agreed that while it was indeed very very pretty, the only consistently entertaining thing was the Mad Hatter. (I also adored the various talented voice actors' work, but I'm a nerd)

Omigosh, this week's AT4W was flippin' BRILLIANT! <333 '90s Kid was just adorable with his innocent enthusiasm, though there were certainly times that I thought I heard a snarky tone in his voice. Props to Lewis for being able to do that review with a straight face? xD

I could write fanfiction about any and all of those situations! *flails*
I VOTE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. :Db

Yeah, it was pretty, the Mad Hatter was AWESOME (why couldn't HE have been the protagonist?!) and the voice-acting was glorious ... but beyond that? Meh.

I think that he was having entirely too much fun with that. And 90's Kid's genuine enjoyment was lovely, even if it was about dreadful source-material.

I VOTE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. :Db
Hmmmmm ... drabbles, d'you think? One post of all the various possibilities?
