Doctor ... WHO?

Anyone know anything about this Matt Smith guy? To be honest, my first thought was 'he looks like one of the Panic!At the Disco band members ...' And now, reading the articles about him, he sounds a bit too much like David Tennant for my peace of mind.

But ... I dunno. I know a lot of you had your hopes set on that-guy or that-girl, but not being very in-touch with pop-culture, I was (and still am) just psyched for a new Doctor. This Matt Smith guy is the youngest EVER to play the Doctor, he's not drop-dead-gorgeous (though this time next year I'll probably be squeeing about how hot he is and how I want to marry him) and in the pictures I've seen he looks like he's got a bit of self-confidence, which will be useful when he goes up against slavering hordes of DT fangirls and armies of small children vying for an autograph.

I'm eager for a new face. He might seem a bit too much like the old face NOW, but we've yet to see him at the TARDIS helm or running up and down a corridor with a companion (or two or three) in tow. I'm willing to give the man a chance (seriously, DT was in ... the awesome but underapriciated Blackpool, Casanova, and a five-second but show-stealing part in GoF before he was the Doctor.) With everything to prove, I think Matt Smith's gonna work harder than anyone else to wow us.

Now ... one of you hold him down, and I'll attack his head with scissors. Get those emo Peter Petrelli bangs off my Time Lord!

I watched The Ruby in the Smoke and The Shadow in the North, the two costume dramas he did with Billie, and he was absolutely lovable. I have total faith in him.

Never heard of him. Oddly enough, when I saw a picture of him, I thought he looked just as thin as David Tennant. I don't really care for his hair, either, though someone in the article I read said he loved it, so I don't think it's going away. I'm said that David Tennant's going, but I suppose it had to happen eventually. At least he stayed longer than CE.

I know a lot of people have mentioned turning the Doctor into a female, but, well, if they haven't done it by now, I don't think they're going to. I don't know much about Time-Lord mythology or whatever the crazy kids call it now, but I always thought that once a Time-Lord was a certain gender, they just sort of stayed that gender. But maybe I am wrong. It'd just be hard to explain that whole genitalia thing to the kiddies.

As long as Eleven remains the Doctor I know and love, I don't really care how he looks. I love the Doctor, not the version. All the versions have their cute little quirks and strange mannerisms and whatnot, but they all come together to create the glorious being that is the Doctor and I can't see it any other way. They can look as weird as they like, as long as they act like the Doctor, I will love them.

Yeah, the whole 'the Doctor should be a woman!' kinda annoys me because ... if you bring the whole 'flexible gender' thing into the equation NOW, it's gonna seriously shake up the canon. Besides, why not bring back awesome Time Ladies like Romana and the Rani instead of screwing with the Doctor's gender? *loves the Rani WAAAAAAAY too much and wants a New!Who one who isn't on the Sarah Jane Adventures*

(P.S. I dunno if you've seen/heard yet or not, but I just finished this Pushing Daisies/Heroes crossover trilogy that people seem to be raving about. No Plaude, and only one teeny mention of Peter, but oodles of cute femslash! I'd be honored if you'd read and comment ...)
