Today I got the Seanan McGuire CD (Roses and Dead Things) that I ordered last week. I didn't expect it to arrive so soon! *SQUEE* Having only heard one song in full and listened to the same clips over and over and over for half a year, it's hard to articulate how happy it makes me to finally listen to this CD.
Who is Seanan McGuire?
Imagine if Jonathan Coulton were a woman with a penchant for longer songs and more variety in music style, and into Buffy the Vampire Slayer and mad scientists, and that's what Seanan McGuire's filk is like. Go buy her CDs, they're well worth every single cent, and I don't throw that recommendation around lightly, you know!
(Well, except for the Dresden Files, Firefly, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Slings and Arrows, Soon I Will Be Invincible ... my recs are good, ok?)
Check out her website at the very least:http://seananmcguire.com/
Seriously, though, here's just a few of the (averaging four-to-five-minute-long and very high quality!) songs from Roses and Dead Things:
'Oh, Helen' - a tribute to Helen Narbon, sung by Dave
'The Black Death' - a bubbly song about ... well, Exactly What It Says On The Tin
'Oh, Michelle' - a song about a Genre Savvy girl being exhasperated with their Genre Blind friend
'Another Mad Scientist Love Song' - ... this is the best thing ever. *SQUEE*
