Hello, thank you for signing up for this exchange!
Please don't worry about following any particular prompt I have here. I know how anxiety-inducing it can be to get an assignment and have no prompts or idea of what the person likes at all, so I wanted to provide some. If you get a completely different idea, go right ahead, I look forward to whatever you write for this.

My DNWs for this exchange are: suicide/self harm, major character death, major character illness, adultery/cheating, brutal unhappy endings with no hope in sight, oviposition, crackfic, rimming, mindbreak, corrective rape (sexuality or gender), character or ship bashing, spelling it "cum," characters under the age of 16 engaging in sex, fingernail/toenail trauma/injuries, kidfic/de-aging, trypophobia content, teeth damage/trauma, explicit urine/feces/vomit, detailed insects/bugs, first or second person POV, cancer, institutionalization, needles used for torture, eye torture/trauma, breast mutilation (biting or scratching is ok but not more extreme than that), gaslighting, fridging female characters (removing them from the narrative to focus on a male character’s trauma), suicide or assisted suicide as the end of a character/used or framed as a “mercy,” pregnancy, miscarriage, pets being endangered or harmed or killed, unrequested crossovers/fusions with other fandoms, medical torture/abuse, explicit child abuse (references to it as backstory are ok), petplay, sexual ageplay, bimboification.
Some fandom-specific DNWs are located below!

In general terms, I love horror a lot.
- I'm very into the history and legacy of the genre, especially film history and gothic literature.
- I enjoy monsters, be they outright scary or potentially romantic or both.
- I enjoy the thrill of seeing characters struggle for survival and triumph over challenges.
- I love mad scientists, especially when they pursue Things Man Was Not Meant to Know.
- I've found I'm a lot more interested in retribution/punishment type horror, that is to say, a character does something, takes an action of their own free will, and then suffers repercussions for it, even if the retribution is disproportionate; I prefer this to "the character was walking along and something Horrible dropped out of the sky onto them."
- I really love lore, legends, secret cults and extreme religions, especially when coupled with the wilderness or areas of nature where "civilization" hasn't broached yet.
- Overall I prefer characters to survive, albeit scarred physically and/or emotionally from the experience, rather than a completely tragic ending with no hope in sight.

I'm not a fan of: torture-porn or body horror that's just for the gross-out factor or ogling a naked woman, "scary asylums" settings, people questioning their sanity/being driven insane, serial killers getting lionized as "evil geniuses" rather than shown as bumbling creeps who escaped detection due to police incompetence and/or racism, or evil kid horror.

For the subgenres for this exchange I'm most often consuming media under these subgenres:
Dark Fantasy, Gothic Horror, Cosmic/Lovecraftian Horror (hate the man, love the subgenre when it's done well), Folk Horror, Monster Horror, and Sci-Fi Horror.

In no particular order, some of my favorite horror films include:
Raw, Hush, You're Next, The Guest, The Shape of Water, Crimson Peak, Green Room, The Final Girls, The Invitation, The Witch, Stage Fright, Fright Night (both versions), Suspiria (the original), the Wicker Man (the original), Tucker & Dale vs Evil, Jennifer's Body, Ravenous, Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, Re-Animator, Cam, The Ritual,  Savageland, Little Monsters, Tammy and the T-Rex, and Hereditary.

In no particular order, here are some horror TV shows I've enjoyed:
The Terror, Hannibal, Kingdom (2019), Gravity Falls, Over the Garden Wall, Stranger Things, Locke & Key, Penny Dreadful, Siberia, Harper's Island, and the Owl House.

I'm a big fan of the Magnus Archives and other horror podcasts like Down, Hello From the Hallowoods, and the Silt Verses.

---

General things I like: character A teaching character B to defend themselves, bandaging wounds, navigating polyamory, asexual characters in romantic relationships, mad scientists, lore & legends, symbolic dreams, powerplays and power reversals, coping with long-term injuries and/or scars, roadtrips, pirate AUs, space pirate AUs, vampire AUs, werewolf AUs, nonsexual BDSM, traditions and loyalty rituals, gothic horror, gothic romance, horror in the vein of Things Man Was Not Meant To Know, survival challenges, being trapped by storms/weather, monster and human friendships/alliances, holidays (real or invented), worldbuilding, platonic sleeping together for comfort, making/sharing food together, found family, character focus/exploration, asexual and/or trans headcanons, role reversal AU.

Smutty stuff I like: Oh No There Is Only One Bed, sexual BDSM, tentacles, xenokink/monsterfucking, hypnotism, aftercare, bratty bottoms getting taught manners, service kink, orgasm denial (that eventually ends, not unending torture), multiple orgasms, two dominants double-teaming a sub, dubious consent acknowledged as such, bdsm session where a character calls their safeword and they have to stop the scene, threesomes, kink negotiation, polyamory, first time sex, consensual voyeurism, masturbation, bondage, wax play/other sensation play, spanking with hands, flogging/whipping, D/s roleplay, sex toys, choking/breathplay.

Darker stuff I like: whump, hurt/comfort, trauma recovery, retribution (disproportionate or not) for a transgression/trespass of some kind, revenge, characters trauma-bonding, characters getting drenched in blood, messy and unhealthy relationships, nonconsensual hypnotism, sex pollen, Something Made Them Do It (aliens, magic, curses, artifacts, etc), virginity fetishizing, ravishment fantasy, consensual nonconsent/rape roleplay where it's clear it's a negotiated roleplay, knifeplay, gunkink, partners killing someone together, lovers killing someone together, monster/human partnerships where the human has allied with the monster against humanity, victims turning the tables on their attackers/rapists/abusers, villains in love and doing horrible things to other people together, possessiveness/protectiveness with couples, extreme loyalty as with a knight/sovereign or sailor/captain, submission to punishment/rape/execution on behalf of another, unconsciousness, begging for mercy, men crying, strangulation, gangbangs where the victim is overwhelmed by sensation.

The Magnus Archives

Characters and ships:
Agnes Montague/Gertrude Robinson, Solo: Agnes Montague
Basira Hussain/Daisy Tonner, Basira Hussain/Julia Montauk, Basira Hussain/Melanie King, Jonathan Sims/Daisy Tonner, Solo: Daisy Tonner, Trevor Herbert & Julia Montauk, Trevor Herbert/Julia Montauk
Georgie Barker/Melanie King, Solo: Melanie King
Solo: Mikaele Salesa, Solo: Naomi Herne

Type: Cosmic/Lovecraftian Horror, Type: Dark Fantasy, Type: Folk Horror, Type: Gothic Horror, Type: Monster Horror, Type: Science-Fiction Horror, Type: Survival Horror

Fandom Specific DNWs: Permanent deaths of Basira, Melanie, Georgie, Naomi, or Jon. Jon saying he is allosexual or gay. Jon expressing feelings of sexual attraction to anyone (when unaffected by outside influences such as drugs, magic, sex pollen, etc.)
DNW clarification: Jon’s asexuality doesn’t need to be the focus of the fic, but I am not interested in fic where he’s involved in sex and his canonical sexuality isn’t taken into consideration. He could be sex-repulsed, sex-neutral, sex-favorable, in the context of this exchange I think his personal experiences, limits, and boundaries (whatever you write them as) are very relevant, especially if he’s suddenly exposed to sex pollen or a Leitner and has to grapple with how different he feels. He could find it academically interesting, personally horrifying, or have any number of reactions.

What I like about this: I love the Hunt and the Slaughter Entities most, would love any exploration relating to those and the influence over their avatars. I would really love some insights into the women in this show who didn't get much spotlight time, like Agnes and Julia and Naomi. I'm VERY interested in exposure to Leitners and artifacts having wild impacts on characters, trauma bonding, and unlikely match-ups.

Prompts:
There's some varied character mashups here so I'll do a couple ...
- Jon and Daisy's dynamic goes through a fascinating progress on the show. I'm especially taken with when she's about to kill him in the woods (here's an animation of the scene), and then much later when he's hauled her out of the coffin and they become very strange friends. Anything you want to write with these two would be lovely. They've both gone through so much and understand the drive/hunger of being an Avatar that the others don't seem to grasp. (I'm down for them to have a more intimate connection too.) My ultimate dream would be: consensual nonsexual D/s between the two of them in S4 or later, or dark violent content in S3 of that scene in the woods if Basira didn't show up when she did.

- Trevor and Julia. Look I just love the Hunt. I love how it turns people into determined werewolf-like beings who are obsessed with the chase and running down quarry. I love how they laugh. I love their weird dynamic of being so close and something beyond family. I love their hunger and delight in pursuit. For prompts ...hmmm. A hunt goes bad. A hunt goes good. Trevor slows down and Julia won't leave him. Julia gets hurt and worries Trevor will abandon her but he won't. Maybe some new kind of monster they encounter?

- Georgie and Melanie we don't know much about them, with all the supernatural stuff happening and them getting not much in the way of recording-time. I want to know more. How is Melanie adjusting? Georgie's had to adjust to first her ex and now her new girlfriend living with her, what has that been like for her? Did Georgie ever see Melanie during a rage? Do they start a new podcast together about something non-supernatural, like reviewing audio descriptions options on movies? How are they doing after the cult stuff? I'm not a huge fan of how Melanie was treated during much of the show, I'd especially love to see her shine in a fic.

What I like about this: Just a big fan of this band and the wild lore around them. I love how the Mechs can die and come back over and over, and how this definitely takes a toll but they try to pretend it doesn't. I love how impossibly old and ridiculously weird they are.

What I like about this: This show is like nothing I've ever heard before. I love getting immersed in the whole thing, though sometimes the body horror gets a bit too visceral even for me.

Prompts:
- Carpenter and Charity come to a different arrangement
- Faulkner worships
- Carpenter musing on her life and choices

- - -

Crossover Fandom

What I like about this: I love both these shows, I love Carpenter, I'm delighted by this concept so much!

- Carpenter suddenly transported to TMA world and struggling to cope
- Carpenter has always lived in the TMA world, is she an Avatar? Of which one(s)?
