 *sobs a little*

This was a perfect movie.

No, really, I'm not being sarcastic or hyperbolic or anything, this really was one of those Perfect Movies that you run into once in a great while. I can't think of any others right now, but I've felt this before.
Everything, from the music to the camera angles to the casting to the dialogue to the action to the travel shots to the tone, everything was spot-on, and in such a way that no one area stood out and blew my mind. It all blended together in a sepia-toned smoothie of perfection.

What else can I say, really? That Hailee Steinfeld deserved Best Actress? That I want to watch it all over again with subtitles simply for the fantastic lines? That I could wax poetical about the painfully beautiful empty landscapes? That I want a whole movie with that outlaw gang, especially the oddly charismatic and skin-crawlingly ... (not "evil" exactly, what's the word I'm looking for here ... tough? Principled?) *insert appropriate adjective here* Ned Pepper? That Tom Chaney is a character I could have watched for a whole movie, flip-flopping between pathetic-kicked-puppy and horrible-monster as he did? That I literally squeed out loud when I saw the town for the first time? That the Undertaker and the Horse Owner Who Got Pwned By Mattie were utterly hilarious? That I enjoyed how the action bits were sudden and abrupt and came right the hell outta nowhere sometimes? That LaBoeuf was a thoroughly mystifying character that required all of my attention and then some?

The Bear Guy and the Gang Member Who Made Animal Noises ... WTF?

And yes, I cried at the end. Even though I knew she was going to lose her arm and become a bitter old lady. (Hey, I watched Doug's Old vs. New last week, of course I knew that was gonna happen. His video was the reason I put the movie on my Netflix list.) I wailed when the horsies got shot, too. I hate it when horsies get hurt in movies.

Really, it all comes down to "this was a perfect sepia-toned smoothie."
