Watched Kill Bill Volume 1 tonight, again, for the first time a while.
I am extremely bewildered as to why this remains one of my all-time favorite movies. It's extremely violent in a downright icky way at times, and there's a whole bunch of swearing. I shouldn't like this movie. I should hate this movie.
But I don't. God help me, I love the whole thing, and I love the second one too. I don't really differentiate between loving the first one and loving the second one, though they are very different, but you can't have one without the other and they are the same movie, just split into two disks.
Really, one of these days I'm gonna do a huge 'What aunt_zelda Thinks' rambling post about Kill Bill and my thoughts on it, but right now I don't have time for that epicness.
I know I love this movie. Now I'm actually trying to puzzle out WHY I love this movie. (Tomorrow, if I have time, I'm watching the second one, don't worry. I'd watch it right now if I didn't have to get to sleep.)
Some probable contributing factors to why I love this movie so much:
The katanas
The fan-freaking-tastic music
David Carradine's voice
The kickass action sequences
The blink-and-you'll-miss-it darkest of dark humor
The katanas
The badass ladies
The fact that it makes me sound cool that I like this movie
David Carradine's voice
The utterly awesome way the movie is shot
The katanas

Uma Thurman rocks.
Quentin Tarantino rocks. (I'll watch anything he does.)
The rest of the actors rock.
The characters' names.
The awesome fight sequences.
The music--yup, it's so good.
The stylish way the violence is shot/shown.
The revenge theme.
The ending (Part 1).
Thanks for posting this. Not many people I know like it.

Date: 2011-05-27 11:59 am (UTC)I didn't saw Kill Bill until Vol.2 was already on dvd, my friends where very surprised and told me I had to see it, I wanted to just because there were many, many references at that time that I couldn't understand because they were from this movie, and I end up liking it, hahaha.
Oh and katanas? Totally right.
