So, have you ever wondered where the hell I came from? I really didn't start watching Heroes consistantly/obsessively until after the six-week break, with episode 19.
A friend of a friend recomended it to me, so I tried it out. I began with Episode 4, where Claire wakes up on an autopsy table. My TV was so fuzzy I kept squinting and jiggling the antenae. I didn't have a clue what the hell was going on. I thought Isaac was hot (through the pixels) and found Peter annoying, but that was about it. I watched next week's episode, then stopped. I couldn't figure it out, it was on too late (if I don't have an amazing amount of sleep I'm a zombie for days) and it was a bit gross.
A little while later I found out you could watch the episodes (legally) on nbc.com, so I did. I liked it. I watched Episode 17 (Company Man) on a trip and got hooked again. I watched fan-vids, started an account on IMDb.com towards the end of April, started reading slash, and joined LJ at the end of May. I became obsessed, got a friend to tape the finale (damn school trip with no TV!) and read the graphic novels like wildfire.
So that's my Heroes story. I'm super-hyped for Season 2, not just because it's starting again, but because I'm starting with everyone else. I know how to get my antenae just right so I can view it almost perfectly, have the nbc site bookmarked, and Mast Lists of Heroes Slash.
Just wanted to put that out there.
Now, TORCHWOOD SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 3!
Oh I LOVE an episode with good flashbacks. I don't know why, I'm just strange. And poltergiests (which is what they were, ghosts are spirits of the dead, poltergiests are usually manifestations of psycological trauma, sort of focused mental energy if you will ... usually associated with teenage girls going through puberty but not always) are wicked cool.
The scene with Jack teaching Gwen how to shoot was just ... incredibly hot. I mean ... wow. I'm not the kind of person who likes guns, too ... kinda adverse to them actually, more of a swords and archery kinda girl ...
Poor Harold! (That's his name, right?) I mean, we get these sweet flashbacks of him and Gwen and I have the horrible feeling that he's going to die a really nasty death or storm off out of the show.
Whenever I see that building I always think 'giant bread loaf smack in the middle of Cardiff.' I mean, are there many buildings like that? ...
Jack lives in Torchwood ... I almost thought we'd get this image of him sitting in a chair, petting the perodactyl on the head like a dog and all this sad, plinky piano music playing ... is the perodactyl ever going to be explained?!
Owen has a dark and mysterious past, doesn't he? He's all funny and horny and stuff but deep down I think he's got a really disturbing past.
Btw, in episode 2, after Owen (naked) comes out of the cell, Gwen asks if he's alright, or does he still fell 'a bit of a c-' what got cut off there? I kinda want to know ...
Ah well, next week looks WONDERFUL! Is that some kind of cyborg? Isn't she Jack's girlfriend? Where did I read that ....

Date: 2007-09-23 10:09 pm (UTC)and yay for Torchwood..... ;)
I really liked this episode and the main reason was that this is the episode where I actually started to like Owen. At first I really didn't care for him, but when he had the experience in this episode and I saw his vulnerable side, I saw another side to the character that wasn't part of the first two episodes..... especially because how you said that he just always seems like he's horny..... lol

are you talking about Gwen's boyfriend?....... because if you are his names Rhys (pronounced like Reese)....... and I really like his character....... ;)

she tells him: "Are you all right now? Or are you still feeling a bit of a cock?"...... I'm assuming it's some sort of British saying and the way I took it was that she was asking him if he was still "excited"..... ;)
Is that some kind of cyborg? Isn't she Jack's girlfriend?
all I'll say is that no that is not Jack's girlfriend..... but you're somewhat in the right direction..... ;)

Ooops! I got 'Harold' from Stranger Than Fiction, a movie that seems to have been made for me that I just recently watched ...

Oh, thanks ... so they can say 'sod off' but can't say 'cock' without being blipped? Very, very strange world ... can they say 'bugger' unblipped too?!
all I'll say is that no that is not Jack's girlfriend..... but you're somewhat in the right direction..... ;)
Eh? Guess I'll wait until Saturday ...
(Btw, your icon of Jack makes him look like a vampire. DEAD SEXY!)

that would be a Cyberman.. or in this case, woman... have you watched season 1 or 2 of Doctor Who? Cause it really helps..
I've seen season 1 of DW and just saw 'School Reunion' of DW, but that's it ... I vaguely know what Cybermen are ... wasn't there a head of one in van Statten's place? I know they come up soon in season 2 of DW but that's it ... utto ...

I think she says 'cock-up'. Which works both as British slang and as a euphemism for the erection he certainly had after the alien got done with him. I can't believe they'll show him naked with only his hands over his crotch, but then bleep that out!

Date: 2007-09-24 12:51 am (UTC)I'm not so sure ... last week's sex-alien vs. Owen character development ... gotta go with this week, I'm afraid ...
Owen CREEPED THE HELL OUT OF ME. It was awesome, but after seeing him act like that, I was like, "I need to go watch some clips of Sylar now to try to lighten my mood."
Oh, the strange people I 'know' ... I know what you mean, I felt like Owen was channeling Sylar or Dark!Mohinder for a second there ...

Thanks! And so true! Odd show ... they can say 'sod off' but not 'cock-up' ... can they say 'bugger' too? I can't remember ...

Date: 2007-09-24 01:07 am (UTC)It was great character development of him, and I was happy to see that little behind-the-scenes in the commercials where they talked about how the character was going to change over the series, but I liked how last week had a more obvious theme to it of connecting to other people. I wrote a long recap for FADPOV that I don't think is up yet where I harped on that a lot. But last week was written by Chris Chibnall, who I just found out also wrote a lot of Life on Mars which I ADORED, so that may also explain why I liked last week better.
I know what you mean, I felt like Owen was channeling Sylar or Dark!Mohinder for a second there ...
It's easy to see Heroes in everything when you've spent so much time talking about it, but seriously...Owen sitting there staring menacingly while Edwin babbled obliviously on? Where have we seen that behavior before? ;0) What made Owen so scary is that I expect that about-to-snap look from Sylar, but Owen's supposed to be a [snarky] good guy. Burn Gorman just acted the hell out of that. When Owen was seeing Edwin attack Lizzie, he was so horrified that I almost felt worse for him than for Lizzie.
Just realized, I need to get some Owen icons...

Oh yeah!v *shivershiver*

Poor Lizzie kinda knew what she was getting into, wheras Owen HAD to watch ...
And yeah, the clock-and-heartbeat thing was a FREAKY coincidence.
