This morning I woke from a dream where I was a drow elf shooting arrows at an evil sorceress and her sword-toting lackey who were setting a farmhouse ablaze. It was D&D, too, because first it was my turn and then it wasn't my turn and my companion had a bad roll. (I don't even know how that worked in the dream, but it did.)

This is because I was listening to TGWTG D&D podcasts before bed. Basically I dreamed that I was Spoony, as a drow elf in a D&D campaign. BADASS!

While the day wasn't especially exciting, that dream certainly started things off nicely. Oh, and I had Red Right Hand by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds stuck in my head for most of the day. I wish I had Nick Cave's voice. Well, no I don't, I wish I had Nick Cave's voice and was a dude, because otherwise I don't think I could make that work. Then again, I don't really want to be a dude and this whole thing is falling apart. Nick Cave's voice is badass, and he once kissed another dude onstage, and his music is made of creepy win. UNF.

Why is it that horror movies freak me out and give me panic attacks, but I love murder ballads? I mean, I'll listen to songs about fairies kidnapping people and sucking out their lifeforce and people getting torn apart by horses and serial murderers who lure young ladies with the power of their voice ... but describe the events of a horror movie to me and I'll start sweating.

Also, did I mention that I'm going to NADWCon in July? Because I am! Plane tickets will be ordered soon! Woooooooot! I found myself thinking about that today, when I was stressing out a little about all the work I have to get done. "Oh god, I have to have all of that done by this Thursday?! ... Hey, I'm going to the Discworld Con! *squee*"

Also, I can hear peepers! (Little frogs that live in vernal pools, not voyeurs.) *SQUEE* Spring is HERE!

(I think that being so busy and spring creeping in is heightening my emotions. I'm VERY excited, I'm VERY nervous, I'm VERY cuddly, I'm VERY frightened, I'm VERY angry, I'm VERY tired ... no, wait, I'm always tired, that's not new.)

Nick Cave is all of the win. All of it. Also, Murder Ballads is my favourite album EVER.

I wish I had his singing voice. Not so much his speaking voice. Because I'm sorry but I can't get over the fact that he sounds like Barry White imitating the Crocodile Hunter.

Yes, yes he does.

Thanks! (It's not until July, don't worry, I'm not going anywhere yet!)

Drows and Elves are different races.

But I thought Drows were elves? I've always heard it as 'Drow elf.'
Is this one of those 'a square can be a rectangle, but a rectangle can't be a square' things?

Besides, if their origins are from Norse mythology and the idea of 'Dark Elves,' who lived in Svartálfaheimr, then they started out as elves.

They are a subspecies of elves, but they are still elves.

Really? Interesting ... what are you here for, the squee, the Shakespeare, the TGWTG, or the crazy recaps of movies and tv episodes?
