Random Christmas Post for Christmas Eve

"'I'm gonna have you fired.' And I want to lean over and say 'I'm gonna have you KILLED!"
I love David Sedaris. I discovered today that The Santaland Diaries are on youtube. I laid on the couch and listened to the snarky gay man critique and deconstruct the idea of Christmas and retail employment. That, to me, the true meaning of Christmas. Well, that and watching Love, Actually and reading The Hogfather and going to see the Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol and writing smutty fanfiction for your lovely online friends. And watching Doctor Who Christmas specials, which are all about death and despair and aliens attacking London for some inexplicable reason.
I am nothing if not a product of modern media and geekery.
"... and he would have curled into a little ball ... and DIED!"
David Sedaris should meet the Nostalgia Critic. They can be adorable and snarky and petulant with each other and it would be awesome.
Lookie at this!
Not only is PushingUpRoses adorable, tattooed, pervy, and incredibly geeky, here's a whole video of her being a woobie who squees about Christmas despite getting doors slammed in her face and being yelled at by the TGWTG boys and slapping herself for making bad puns. (And the ending … good god, she's EVIL!) Adorable, geeky, pervy and with a bit of a mean streak? *sighs dreamily* I think I'm in love ...
Mini Christmas Fanmix Without Downloads Because I'm Strapped For Time:
Chiron Beta Prime - Jonathan Coulton
Merry Christmas from Chiron Beta Prime, Where we're working in a mine for our robot overlords. Did I say overlords? I meant protectors!
Merry Christmas from Chiron Beta Prime!
(I LOVE THIS SONG. Probably my favorite on the list, and probably my favorite Christmas song.)
The Night Santa Went Crazy - Weird Al Yankovic
From his beard to his boots he was covered with ammo
Like a big fat drunk disgruntled Yuletide Rambo
And he smiled as he said with a twinkle in his eye
"Merry Christmas to all - now you're all gonna die!"
(Scary and catchy and fun to sing with your boyperson.)
Wishing You a Drag Queen Christmas - B. D. Wong
When you trim your tree
In festive finery
May your hair be as high as a star
(Oh come on, how can you NOT love this song?)
My Christmas List - Simple Plan
I want a lifetime supply
Of skittles & slurpees and Eskimo pies
I want a DVD
A big screen TV
Just bring me things that I don't need!
(Consumerism! Hurray! *likes this song for it's unashamedly selfish message* Sometimes it's fun, after all the heartwarming songs about love and family and magic, to have a song that's honest about what a lot of kids are thinking: GIMME STUFF! LOTSA STUFF!!!)
Walking in the Air - Nightwish
We're surfing in the air
We're swimming in the frozen sky
We're drifting over icy
Mountains floating by
(My Chorus sang this song a million years ago, and it only occurred to me this year to look it up on youtube.)
Also, anything by the Trans Siberian Orchestra, because they are badass.
Merry Christhaunkwansolstice! Happy Hogswatch! Have a nice Gurnenthar's Ascendance!
Now let's see if I can finish a fanfic tonight amidst all the wrapping paper, family stress, and general distractions ...
