Uh, yeah. I just found out that Life On Mars (the real one, not the silly American version) is now AVAILABLE ON AMAZON AND NETFLIX!!! As in, you don't need an English DVD player to watch it anymore. You don't need to skulk around pirate sites feeling ashamed of yourself. It's FINALLY COME TO AMERICA PROPERLY! *SQUEE*

Funny how we never feel the urge to "skulk around pirate sites feeling ashamed of ourselves" to find the American series...

Funny how we never feel the urge to "skulk around pirate sites feeling ashamed of ourselves" to find the American series...
Because the American version should never have been made: THE ACTUAL VERSION ALREADY EXISTED!!! You don't see us making an American version of Doctor Who to broadcast! No, we put the actual episodes on SyFy and BBC America!
kinkeh ;) I've got me fingies crossed for Who on DVD...
I've got the New Who seasons already ... I'm going to ask for Firefly from my family (again, some more) to see if they take the hint THIS TIME around ... and if not I'll buy it myself with the gift cards I shall receive instead.

Date: 2009-09-11 04:40 am (UTC)people think "lucky brit" (haha, brit...so cute) but what they should think is "sopping wet, permanently damp and cold brit" with the weather we're getting. it's absolutley dreary every. single. day.
You don't see us making an American version of Doctor Who to broadcast!
I think that would actually be sacriligious and likely to be punishable in most regions.
I'm going to ask for Firefly from my family (again, some more) to see if they take the hint THIS TIME around
what kind of family wouldn't respond to THAT request? jaysus. unless your mumsy and popsicle are deaf. in that case you could come up with some sort of hand signaling, I suppose...I should not be responding to this bleeding hour.
HAHA bleeding hour...every time I say something sterotypical of my "people" I'll feel self concious now, b/c you know where I come from...so no more "bloody hell" or even "oi"...and ecspecially no "phwoooar!!"
alot of people n here fancy british accents, even via the written language. why is that? i mean, i'm pretty well sick of the way my friends talk. what i would give from some cowboizzzzz.
this was a really off topic comment toward the end there...apologies.
night..or morning maybe? hmmmm

Date: 2009-09-12 12:46 am (UTC)I like rain. I'm sure if I lived in England for any length of time, I'd come to hate it, because I do like sun as well, but still ... *sighs* Personally I really want to live in England so I can turn on the TV or the radio and just hear British voices. All. Day. Long. Instead of having to wake up at five AM or tune in at noon for NPR's BBC segment.
I think that would actually be sacriligious and likely to be punishable in most regions.
And yet we made an AMERICAN version of LIFE ON MARS. Doesn't that kinda prove that my country is willing to do pretty much anything, regardless of sacrilegious-ness?

Well I HAVE gotten Doctor Who DVDs in the past ... hopefully this year's the charmer! *crosses fingers*
I say 'Oi!' all the time now, because of Donna. People I know make fun of me. But I keep saying it when someone whaps me on the head/steals my food/says something rude. Then again, I watch a lot of British TV shows, read a lot of books by English authors, and listen to a lot of weird alt-rock English bands.
You're in luck: most Americans can't differentiate between 'posh' and 'lower class' British accents.
IWe eat it all up.I think that there was a study shown that Americans perceive things said by a British voice to be more intelligent than something said by an American voice. Funny, innit?
Rambling is ok ... but I know how you feel. When I stay up late and try and reply to comments, I get kinda funny too ...
(Your icon: LOVE! It's been so long since I've seen a Plaude icon ... *sighs* Plaude was my second official slash pairing ...)

Date: 2009-09-12 12:58 am (UTC)How I see it:
Season 1 - Rose, 9th Doctor
Season 2 - Rose, 10th Doctor
Season 3 - Martha, 10th Doctor
Season 4 - Donna, 10th Doctor
2009 Specials - The Steampunk Christmas Ep, the Easter Ep with the bus (that I haven't seen yet!), Waters of Mars, Double Christmas Feature.
Season 5 - whatever Matt Smith and what's-her-name do in 2010.
In America, we tend to refer to the whole span of a show (Buffy seasons 1-7, for example) as a SERIES.
No idea why THAT got muddled up. We have weird differences in our languages. Like 'jumper' and 'sweater' and 'cookies' and 'biscuits' and 'crisps' and 'chips' and a lot more stuff that I can't remember right now.

Yeah. Try going to NBC.COM constantly to try and find episodes. I know it's possible to find it on our stations, but I just don't have time to order new cable channels! I sometimes resort to synopses for the week. *kaslump*
So yeah, we have Who and VM and we had the original Office I think, too...but you'll always have Heroes.
good on ya.
but also screw yew.

Date: 2009-09-12 12:53 am (UTC)But then again ... what with V2 and V3 *shudders* and some of V4 ... a lot of us wish we HADN'T gotten Heroes.
See, it goes like this:
S1 = MAJOR WIN.
S2 = cut short by the Writer's Strike, Plague arc derailed, whole characters and plots rendered useless, Kristin Bell is hot, etc.
S3, part 1 = THIS DID NOT HAPPEN I HATE YOU ALL.
S3, part 2 = HURRAY! This is amazing! I love you all!
S3, last couple of episodes = I hate you all, all over again. And hey, Brian Fuller has left the show again. Sh*t.

But back ON topic, Writer's strike? and There's a season 4?
I can't keep up with anything, apparently.
but then again, my obsession tends to be with pairings and stuff from S1, so...
Also, I have a severely broken heart this morning.
sniffle.

Ah yes, I have heard about that ... Quinten Tarantino is The Man, is he not? (Though his movies have the vast potential to traumatize me from time to time … eventually I’ll see the movie, but not right away.)
Yeah, during the latter part of 2007 and the early part of 2008, we had us a Writer’s Strike over here. You see, writers for TV shows wanted more money (re: ANY money) on internet revenues and DVD releases. So they quit working for several months. They timed this very well, because it was right before they were due to start working on the second half of most TV shows, so a lot of shows ended halfway on cliffhangers that weren’t resolved for another year, and Heroes decided to cut short its awesome Plague Arc in favor of a closed ended, which felt cheap and stupid. Very sad and annoying, but everyone was on the side of the Writers.
but then again, my obsession tends to be with pairings and stuff from S1, so...
A lot of people do. Although with V2 and V3 you get some nice Claire/Elle stuff … but for the most part S1 is as Good As It Gets … for now.
Also, I have a severely broken heart this morning.
sniffle.
Oh god, I’m so sorry! *huggles*

Date: 2009-09-20 12:22 pm (UTC)Yes, he's very intense. I watched Desperado (Antonio Banderas/Selma Hayek=double YUM) last night, and I had nightmares. About scary handguns and guitars playing madly!!
Very sad and annoying, but everyone was on the side of the Writers.
Well, I'm not! I'm on the side of get that damn season out and THEN go on strike.
Honestly.
Although with V2 and V3 you get some nice Claire/Elle stuff
ooer. Yeah, they're cute. you have some great Elle/Claire stuff...like, you wrote something a WHILE ago that I read about Thanksgiving, I think. Or was that Claire/someone else?
I need to comment on things so I can keep track. But see, I read, giggle, blush, melt, and then need a drink, so the commenting falls by the wayside.
Oh god, I’m so sorry! *huggles*
Yes. Well. Boys bite the big one, you know? I'm still all messed up and upset and I HATE break ups. Or being "dumped" I guess you'd call it. Thanks for the huggles. I need them.
I think I'll write a fic today!!
kbai. Have a nice Sunday!

Date: 2009-09-20 05:12 pm (UTC)I need to see that movie, don't I?
you have some great Elle/Claire stuff...like, you wrote something a WHILE ago that I read about Thanksgiving, I think. Or was that Claire/someone else?
I've written some Claire/Elle stuff, but the Thanksgiving/Christmas fics were about Claire/Monica, two characters who hadn't met on the show at the time I wrote the fic, and still haven't.
That was a great trilogy. *smiles in fond recollection* My Pushing Daisies/Heroes crossover is apparently quite good as well ...
I need to comment on things so I can keep track. But see, I read, giggle, blush, melt, and then need a drink, so the commenting falls by the wayside.
Please do! I love comments! Om nom nom, and such!

I've never been dumped (never had a boyfriend to begin with. *sighs* Someday soon ...) but I've been snubbed by a guy I had a crush on for three years. Jerk. Worse, now I see him and THAT GIRL (*snarls* she KNEW I had a crush on him, that ... bitch) together and it makes me angry. I don't even like him anymore, he's a jerk and not worth my attentions, but ... *sighs* I just wish he'd liked me too.
Ah, sorry about that. *huggles you some more* I rant so I don't say nasty things in real life.
I think I'll write a fic today!!
kbai. Have a nice Sunday!
Woohoo, fic! Thanks!

I have not ... I really need to first buy the LoM British Version DVDs, rewatch them, and then write some fic. Because I don't have enough fandoms and pairings as it is, right? *headdesks*
