What The Hell Is It???!!!!

Ok, so, while reading a recap of a Lost episode (I'm halfway through season 1, don't tell me ANYTHING if you value your lives!) and they mention a 'hypnogourd.' I searched it EVERYWHERE. Google, urbandictionary.com, wiki ...
So, if anyone knows, please tell me! Or leave a link or give me an obvious hint, 'cause it's REALLY REALLY REALLY bugging me.

I think I recall hypnogourds in Piers Anthony's Xanth books.

In the Xanth books, hypnogourds are gourds with a peephole in them. If a person looks into the peephole, their physical body is transfixed, and cannot look away. Meanwhile, their mind/spiritual body is transported to a dream-world of sorts.
