Kill Bill Volume 2

aunt_zelda I can't tell is Budd is a character I completely hate ... or I completely love.
He walks the fine line between 'character I enjoy' and 'character who makes my skin crawl.' He looks like a puppy dog. He looks like a scary hick that would beat me up for having a Pride Flag. He's stupid. He's clever. He's a bastard. He's the nicest member of the Squad. He's funny. He is SO NOT funny. He's harmless. He's terrifying. He's who I want to be. He's someone I hope to never meet.
I love/hate him. I hate/love him. I don't know, I think I need to watch this movie fifty times, then I might be able to sort out my feelings about Budd.
Bill is another character I need to study more in-depthly, but for different reasons. I know how I feel about him, but I want to observe how he feels about the other members of the Squad. They're all women except for Budd, who's his brother. We know that he's had "relations" with at least Beatrix and Elle, to say nothing of Vernita and O-Ren. He emotionally manipulates all of them, especially the women, in any way he can, playing a sort of father/lover/teacher combo that's really fuckingsexy twisted. I mean, his relationship with O-Ren is f-ed up completely, he helped kill her parents and then later set her up as the head of the Yakuza Clans!
I want to know why Vernita was allowed to go off, get married to a Muggle, and have a kid ... and Beatrix wasn't. Maybe because Vernita asked Bill's permission before leaving to have a 'normal' life and Beatrix didn't? Maybe because the Squad kinda disbanded after they shot up the wedding recital and nobody cared what Vernita did with her life? Maybe because Bill wasn't ever sexually involved with Vernita? Maybe Bill was in love with Beatrix and handled her leaving him the only way he could, given their relationship of daughter/lover/student to father/lover/teacher and the fact that they're both assassins?
I think it's probably a combination of all of those, and more besides. I really need to know more about Bill and Vernita and Vernita leaving and getting married and having a kid to be sure, though.
I want Pai Mei's eyebrows. My god, they are amazing. I want his beard too. And the swishy sound effects that go with it. But mostly I want the eyebrows.
On that note, I say goodnight. Today was long, hot, and draining day, but mostly a good one. Well, except for that half-hour where I cried, felt horrible about myself, and got yelled at, but beyond that it was good!
Will finish Volume 2 tomorrow, I've gotta get up early for work and can't finish the movie tonight, sadly ...
